HELLO MY SWEET FRIENDS!
THE FIRST COUNTRY I EVER TRAVELED TO WITH MY OWN MONEY WHEN I WAS 18 WAS…PERU! I went to volunteer doing Micro lending and I lived with an awesome local family up north in Trujillo for 3 months.
Recently, now 10 years later, I returned with the Nas Daily Team and we made some amazing videos, because Peru has MANY unique stories, people and places! I think the meet up here was one of my favorites in the world. We met at the park of love and there were maybe 400 people on the steps, people danced and performed, sang, and even juggled!
Scroll down to see what we did in Peru, and I hope this makes you see what there is, other than visiting the popular Macchu Pichu.
Visit the boiling river
Yes, you heard that right. A BOILING. RIVER.
We visited the boiling river in the Amazon, a river that is so hot, it is constantly steaming.
It is so hot you can LITERALLY cook an EGG on the water.
And animals DIE when they fall into the extremely hot water.
It feels like a giant outdoor sauna with no escape, but it is an adventure that I was happy to be on! Many people come to a retreat by this river to do Ayahuasca with the local shaman. IT’S PRETTY AMAZING AND WORTH THE FLIGHT.
Support this dog adoption agency
Matchcota is this awesome agency that made a lovely online ‘shop’ where you can adopt dogs. They make dog adoption a whole lot easier!
Bonus picture: A Peruvian hairless dog I met! (AND YES I know there are Mexican hairless dogs too…but I think they’re different hehehe).
Vertical cemetery
In Peru, when people die, they don’t mourn the death, they celebrate the life the person had! We were heading somewhere else and saw the GIANT CEMETERY out the window. I think it’s the second largest cemetery in the world! We heard music and people singing and celebrating and went to investigate. Watch this video Nas made to see what I mean.
Visit the local guinea pig farms
Yes, they eat guinea pigs in Peru!
However, there is a farm called BioAgricultura that uses guinea pig poop to make energy! It’s how they light up the farm! (But then they eat the Guinea pigs later 😳).
Eat at Centro Veda – A vegan paradise!
This delicious vegan place had a great ambiance and options, the vibes were very VEGAN if u know what I mean and the drinks were my favorite part. But it is very pricey for Peru! Like $20 Per person.
Where to stay – Aloft Hotels
It’s where we had a fancy Christmas dinner thanks to the hotel – with lots of vegetarian options for Agon and I! This hotel is also amazing because they are PET FRIENDLY!!! THEY ALLOW DOGS! THIS IS THE FUTURE MY FRIENDS hehe.
And it’s one of the prettiest buildings in town! You can stay here too for about $115 a night. 🙂
There is so much to Peru, and so much more which I haven’t talked about or explored! You should consider visiting Peru and South America if you have a chance, simply because it’s so underrated and unexplored.
Drop a comment below with your favorite part of Peru or South America that I missed mentioning if you have visited!
